Dryer repair may be necessary if your dryer is not heating up or has suddenly become very noisy.
If your dryer is not heating up properly, you may can solve the problem yourself without any repair services. To save you unnecessary costs, we recommend trying the following before jumping into repairs:
- Check the vent. Sometimes dryer vents are clogged from the outside by bird nests or other obstructions. If the dryer can’t vent, all the moisture stays inside, preventing your clothes from drying and making it seem like there’s no heat.
- Check that you’re getting enough power to the dryer. In older homes, the breaker can be weak, which results in the dryer not working properly.
- Clean the sensor that tells the dryer when the clothes are dry. You can find out how to do this by reading the owner’s manual that came with the dryer. Also, if you’re drying a very small load, the wet clothes may not touch the sensor, so the dryer will ‘think’ the clothes are dry and turn off, leading you to think you need dryer repair.
